Have a Heart Photo Journey

Do you have a heart for kids? We sure do and so do our advocates! Throughout the month of February, our volunteers across the country delivered handmade valentines and collected online signatures to members of Congress around one message: to have a heart and invest in kids. They met with their state and congressional lawmakers, hosted card making parties and organized tabling events. Below are some of our favorite photos from these activities!

In Crossville, Tennessee, Representative John Rose (R) visited a local Head Start center where the children there gave him handmade valentines encouraging him to invest in programs like Head Start. He also made time to read to them!

SCAN club members at Colby-Sawyer College created fun valentines to deliver to Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D).

Children got in on the action, too! These cute students from Williamsburg Elementary School in Whitley County, Kentucky shared their smiles and Valentine’s Day messages urging state lawmakers to have a heart and invest in their futures.

Volunteers in South Carolina hosted a tabling in Soda City where they collected 269 Valentine’s Day cards to deliver to their lawmakers!

In Iowa, SCAN volunteers Colette and Kelly visited with Senator Joni Ernst’s (R) regional director to deliver valentines and discuss the importance of early childhood programs.

We made a special delivery to state Senator Michael Padilla (D) with Valentine’s Day cards reminding him why we must expand early childhood programs in New Mexico.

We loved seeing the hard work (and fun!) activities our volunteers were up to. A special thank you to all of our advocates for helping kids thrive and building stronger communities, one valentine at a time.

Learn how you can advocate for kids!
